Residential rental, consolidated in other countries such as Multifamily in the US or Build to Rent in the United Kingdom, in Spain we must understand that BTR is more than building, it is an alternative investment mechanism for institutional investors and impact investments, a good line of business for promoters and asset managers, and it is increasingly a philosophy of life for many people in Spain of all ages and economic levels, and most importantly, from now on it will be one of the many solutions to alleviate the affordable housing deficit and social rent in Spain and housing policy mechanism for Public Administrations.
It is about taking the residential rental sector in Spain to its Next Step, at the level set by the Urban Agenda 2030 and in convergence with the European Union, it is necessary to resolve the debate of who should take charge of the challenges of creating a affordable-social housing public stock and an affordable housing private stock, stocks that take weight and responsibilities away from the private market in the face of the problem of the public housing infrastructure deficit. It is, therefore, more than rental housing, it is Affordable Social Housing and the need to promote of Public-Private Partnerships that should have a leading role from now on in this sector.
For all these reasons, we have been involved in the creation of the PPP NextlHousing FORUM, for the debate and progress in the creation, with the participation of the private sector, of a public housing park of housing infrastructure for use as another service of the citizens. . Meeting and work place that we hope will have real positive results in the short, medium and long term.
